This two-hour workshop introduces the rich literary tradition of magical realism, exploring the genre and its artistic style; showing how to incorporate fantastical, supernatural, or mythical elements into realistic, everyday settings. 

Jan Carson is a writer and community arts facilitator based in Belfast. She has published novels, short stories and micro-fiction collections. Her novel The Fire Starters won the EU Prize for Literature for Ireland 2019. The Raptures shortlisted for the An Post Irish Novel of the Year and Kerry Group Novel of the Year 2022. Her latest novel Few And Far Between is a stunningly original and magically surreal story of history, identity and redemption.
